Hello family,

I pray this note finds you well and enjoying the day that the Lord has made.  We are thankful for another opportunity to serve the Lord and anticipate a wonderful experience in worship tomorrow.  I pray that you have opportunity to walk through and be ministered to by Psalm 86 this week.  The sermon, “A Plea, Some Praise and Some Power,” sought to draw on the words and the heart of the Psalmist as he cried out to the Lord in verse 1,

Hear me, Lord, and answer me,

for I am poor and needy.

As God’s children we need to cry out to God, in whatever way possible. Sometimes are prayers are pristine and well thought out.  Sometimes they start like the prayer of Psalm 86.  We just cry out unto the Lord.  This is fine because God hears and answers our plea.  In this extended prayer to God, we see the Psalmist cry out with “A plea, some praise and some power.”

You do the same!

Our Cries to God. Surely we can identify with the writer who cried out to the Lord in so many honest ways in this Psalm:

Hear me, Lord; answer me; guard my life; save your servant; have mercy on me; bring joy to your servant; hear my prayer; listen to my cry for mercy; teach me your way, Lord; give me an undivided heart; turn to me; have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me; and give me a sign of your goodness.

Our Devotion to God. But, that is not all.  The writer is also clear on his rich relationship with the Lord.  He declares to God:

I am devoted to you; I trust in you; I call to you all day long; I lift up my soul to you; I will call to you; I will praise you; I will glorify your name; I will walk in your truth; I will fear your name;  and I will praise you.

Our God. And, perhaps most importantly, he knows God’s provision.  He acknowledges, in so many ways, the Lord’s provisions for us.

God is forgiving; God is good; God is abounding in love to all who call to you; God Answers my call; There is none like God; No deeds can compare; God is great; God does marvelous deeds; and He alone is God.

There is a rich relationship between us and our God.  I pray you have the opportunity to explore that relationship.
