As we approach Good Friday and the memory of Christ’s death on the cross, I cannot help but reflect on the amount of death we see in the world today.  A german pilot who has issues in his own life, take his life and the lives of 149 others.  In Kenya, 4 gunmen massacres 147 college students (many who were Christian) and injured at least 79 more.  Locally, news of double and triple shootings are a part of our regular news cycle.

This is the weight, heaviness and reality of Good Friday and the Cross.  Man’s ability for self destruction and hate is made no more clear and no more transparent than the crucifixion of love (for God is love) on the cross.  But, it is a mystery.  For in the same moment of supreme hatred, we the greatest act of supreme love for,

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13

Christ laid down his life to introduce the world to greatest power on earth – the power to love.
We pray for all who are grieving from loss. We pray for those for those who are victims of man’s inhumanity to man. And we pray for opportunities to introduce the love of Christ to the world.
In love,
Pastor
