I am deeply troubled by the dog whistle politics of Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde in his attempt to unseat Seantor Tammy Baldwin. A disturbing pattern in this election cycle has been the “propagandizing” of Black men for political gain. While one might overlook an isolated gaffe, it’s clear that this is a deliberate strategy by Hovde
On multiple occasions, Hovde has directly impugned the character, reputation, and integrity of Black men. This isn’t just a slip of the tongue—it’s clearly calculated approach. Please don’t try to defend him.
Hovde is absolutely unfit to be my senator. His behavior suggests he has no Black male, associates, colleagues, or acquaintances. No one with genuine connections with Black men would speak about us the way he has. Ant supporter of his — who doesn’t correct him — cannot be a genuine friend to Black men. Period.
This is an old, tired and offensive playbook.
